Remote production has changed. What used to require dedicated encoders, a pile of networking gear, and a specialist on-site can now be streamlined into something far more practical. But one challenge has remained consistent: getting professional, controllable video sources from a remote location into your production environment quickly and reliably.

That’s why Everet Imaging made a clear decision for our PTZ lineup. Everet PRO, EVX, and EVP series PTZ cameras include embedded NDI Bridge WAN connectivity out of the box. The camera is not only an NDI source on your local LAN, it’s ready for secure WAN workflows by design.

 

What is NDI Bridge?

NDI Bridge is part of the NDI toolset created to extend NDI across wide-area networks (WAN) so teams can connect NDI-enabled devices and infrastructures remotely. NDI specifically positions Bridge as a way to share encrypted, fully-featured video, audio, and metadata streams beyond the limits of a single local network.

In other words, it’s built for the real world where your cameras might be in a classroom, venue, meeting room, church, or hospital, while your switching and recording happens somewhere else.

Why “embedded” matters

A lot of “NDI over WAN” conversations start with “add a box.” A small PC. A gateway. A dedicated encoder. A custom workflow. That can work, but it adds:

• extra hardware cost

• extra configuration and maintenance

• extra failure points

• extra support complexity

NDI also supports an Embedded Bridge approach meant specifically for embedded devices such as PTZ cameras, enabling them to transmit NDI output to remote receivers across WAN and to receive remote metadata or control instructions.

That aligns perfectly with what PTZ cameras should be in modern AV: simple to deploy, easy to control, and immediately useful in production.

The promise: fully-featured NDI, remotely

Bridge is designed to keep the NDI experience intact. NDI’s documentation describes Bridge as interconnecting remote NDI infrastructures while “supporting all of the benefits of NDI,” including WAN-friendly handling (such as transcoding options). Industry coverage also highlights that NDI Bridge can preserve more than “just video,” transporting metadata, tally, and remote PTZ control as part of the workflow.

So instead of a remote camera becoming a one-off feed, it can remain a proper production source in your overall NDI environment.
